A converted one up one down Victorian Shop, The Small Space was formerly the gift and home-wares shop Homemade Wales, before that the building was, amongst other things, a bookshop, printers, florist, tobacconist and in Victorian times belonged to a one-armed barber!

Now home to a variety of performance arts, The Small Space is a testament to what can be achieved in a surprisingly small amount of space. Measuring just 16 feet at it’s longest and 12 feet at it’s widest, the downstairs manages to squeeze in a 20/25 seat raked theatre auditorium, whilst upstairs you’ll find a fully licensed bar with seating and the W.C. This diminutive size makes it officially the Smallest Theatre in the UK, and the Smallest Magic Theatre in the World.

Despite featuring different coloured velvet curtain covered walls, it’s probably the old magic poster pasted wall that catches the eye first. This postered wall forms the backdrop to the stage which faces the raked seating which in turn ensures everybody has a perfect view of every performer.

The upstairs bar is reached by the original quite steep stairs, but once at the top, the bar opens up to some seat benches, a few chairs and bar stools. The bar itself stocks a selection of bottled lagers, beers, cider, soft drinks, wine, fizz and spirits, including a decent range of house and premium gins too. We also offer almost two dozen cocktails!

This Five Star Hygiene-rated venue also features ground and first floor air-conditioning.
